Respawn LAN v6
January 12-13th 2008

400 players!

Once again, the Respawn team are bringing you yet another installment of Melbourne's finest BYOPC LAN gaming. We haven't decided on the theme for this one yet so we're wanting to hear from you, our favorite community, as to what you would like.

Competitions will include the usual slaw:
* Counter-Strike: Source 5v5 with a $750 first prize
* Warcraft III 1v1 - $150 first prize, $50 second
* Warcraft III DOTA - prize to be announced ($250 cash minimum)

And will be joined by a Team Fotress 2 competition by POPULAR DEMAND. Also returning will be our hard drive throwing, console gaming and more!

With the release of Call Of Duty 4, Gears Of War and Crysis, we expect this one to be full of the latest and greatest gaming (2x 8900GTS for Christmas, anyone?)

now, this would be my first lan but i was wondering if they are the ONLY games that are played? because it says

You will see allot of these games being played over the weekend, as well as other games.

all i gotta say i came to v5 that was my first lan and all i wanted was more =] its great sadly its far but thats wat cars are for cant wait i wish it was sooner jan is just so far away =[ but it will be worth it getting on a red eye high =] best energy drink ever other then that i got crysis well my freinds borrowing it atm but with lan since theres not many people who would play it i would more feel like it will be ulti str punch up then anything else but i havent been online in a bit have they got like co-op mode cause that would be sweat fun like horde of ai verse like 5 tanked guys =] every knows there will be one guy just jumping on top of roofs punching though walls =]

For best Lanning experience, i recommend you bring a bunch of like minded friends. This gives you the options of playing games that your used to as well as games that everyone else is, but you will find quite a variety, from Doom II to TF 2.

There are of course games that are played more often that not, they are:
- Warcraft III (DOTA and Battleships)
- Team Fortress 2
- Counter Strike source
- Battlefield 2 (why people... why????)

less popular games like C&C 3, Starcraft, and a few other shooters

What if we don't have source installed on our computers?

oh and are teams pre-arranged or can we arrange teams with some randoms on the day?

You won't be playing CS:S then I guess. :| There will be plenty of other games being played if you don't own it.

As for teams, if you can find some randoms on the day to make up a team, no problems. Just make sure to have everyone registered in the team on the intranet before registration for the competition closes.

Add Unreal Tournament 3 and COD4 to that list. There will definatly be many COD4 LOG's, considering the game is gaining on World of War craft on the xfire charts XD. Usually, there is some kind of Quake 3 'novelty' deathmatch tournament. It would be great if we could replace it with UT3 . Also warfare mode on UT is actually really really fun, specially if u played the old mode on UT2k4.

While COD4 is amazing, i still personally think BF2 is a better game.



Not that many people bring 360's, sometimes there is this console group there that has a bunch of em, they might organize something.

I STRONGLY recommend downloading, installing and updating steam the night before the lan. Steam has a nasty habit of releasing updates the night before a lan. Do this even if you dont have any steam games, there may be a certain someone with a certain cracked version of a certain team fortress game that works with steam

Can't beleive how fast it's come around to this time, missed rego's but really wanna come down for the night/morning.

Just don't wanna drive down if it's gonna be for nothing.
