Full Version: Respawn LAN v30: Flashback!
Respawn LAN Forums > Official > News

APRIL 12-13TH 2014

We did say it was going to be our biggest year ever. We've just spent the last month running an oldschool event, comprised of the games from yesteryear which was a blast! We're grateful for everyone who came to take part. We also ran a private event for an engagement party - yes, that's right! A couple decided to celebrate their engagement with a Respawn managed private LAN party for around 60 attendees. Needless to say, the bride vs. groom DOTA 2 team match was very intense!

But it's really time to kick off the next big event full steam ahead and continue our nostalgia kick....

So v30 is about reflection. It's about the last thirty large events we've run together. It's about taking the awesome bits you loved and bringing them into our regular schedule.

Event T-shirts

Our designer has really come up with the goods this time! Check this out:

These T-shirts will cost you $30 and are PREORDER ONLY and will be delivered at the event. You must order and PAY for your t-shirt by Monday (17th) night. Click this link if you'd like to order one.

This is going to look like a bit of a copy and paste from the last event. We know we're onto a good thing, so we'll bring back the favourites, including:

  • League of Legends 5v5
  • Starcraft II 1v1
  • Team Fortress 2 6v6
  • DOTA 2 5v5, now with LAN support!
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 5v5
  • Flatout 2
  • Armagetron
  • Counter-Strike Source GunGame
  • Smash Brothers
  • Nintendo 3DS
  • Armagetron
  • Unreal Tourmanet 2004
  • DOOM 2, thanks to the popularity at Oldschool.

We'll be announcing the complete list with timetables shortly.

You know those awesome prizes we give out at our events? They come from our awesome sponsors who go out of their way to supply us with some awesome stuff to give away to you guys. Our sponsor lineup continues with our loyal partners:

  • Tt eSports
  • Gigabyte
  • Anyware Computer Accessories
  • Corsair
  • Plantronics
  • Deepcool
  • Mionix
  • Fractal Designs

Live streaming

We'll be live streaming this event in partnership with Gamestah, who will be providing quality commentary and casting between events.

Scorptec will be back again! Our trusted partner in PC retail will be carrying PC products with some specials exclusive to our event. Expect to find the latest peripherals from our sponsors along with some favourites.

Cards Against Humanity saw some decent use last event so we'll bring our sets along. The Magic The Gathering Draft ($20 entry) will once again run for those card tappers out there.

Registration is already open!

We kind of jumped the gun and registrations opened a bit earlier than we had anticipated. They're wide open now and we strongly suggest you register quick as we expect this event to sell out completely. Click here for the registration goodness.

Hello Zardoz

Has the GRID competitoon been dropped?
Not to my knowledge. But we've always thought of it more as a 'funcomp' than a billable tournament, so it gets left off the literature sometimes. smile.gif

Ah, thank you for clarifying.

Flashback indeed! ;-)
Just out of curiousity when you say Smash Bros tournament are you referring to Melee, Brawl, 64 or a combination.

I'll advertise it on smashboards when I know the details smile.gif
