Good Game!
So here ends another successful Respawn LAN event. Despite the network issues we had in the morning, we feel it has been one of our most successful events thanks to a glowing response from the community. Once again, we're pleased to see such a positive response from everyone who attended.
A big thank-you to everybody who helped out - the admins, the gophers and everybody else who lent us a hand when we needed it. These things do get noticed and this enables us to create the best possible gaming experience for everybody.
Photos are now ripe for the picking. We got a little snap-happy this time with over 250 photos from the event.

Just over a week away

JUST OVER A WEEK AWAY
That's right folks, we're just over a week away from some pure quality LANnage! Registrations are going well however we do stress that registration is very important as we will be arranging only enough spaces to cater for registered players - so be warned that if you arrive late and you are not registered, there may not be any space for you. In short, register - as it makes our lives easier (and yours - as your registration username and password will also work for the Event Management System we use).
There will be a prize for the best dressed in-theme which is "the haunted house". Think bats, ghosts and such.
Unfortunately ET: Quake Wars didn't get released as planned however there is a beta and we do plan on running something to satisfy the ET: QW players out there.
Thanks to all those who turned up to our pub night at the Belgian Beer Cafe - it was a great night for all - expect another one in the near future.
For those who are attemting to access our IRC channel - oz.org is experiencing some technical difficulties right now - waix.perth.oz.org is working for most of us right now and you'll find us in the usual place - #respawn.
We look forward to seeing you at the event! |

Featuring a gaming console area catering for XBOX, XBOX360 and PS3 gamers as well as a Nintendo Wii, a 100% Cisco powered network featuring the fastest Ten Gigabit Ethernet technology , structured competitions, free food and more! McDonalds will be helping us with a 10% discount for all valid player tags throughout the event The Smart Shop will be selling computer hardware on-site. We will also actively be arranging games throughout the event to ensure that everybody has something to do.
Competitions include the return of favorites: * Counter-Strike Source 5v5: $500 * Warcraft III 1v1: $150 first prize, $50 second * Warcraft III 5v5 DOTA: $250 * Hard drive throwing with random giveaways * Quake III Instagib Free-For-All * Wii Tennis * N64 Mario Kart
And the inclusion of a few new ones: * Trackmania Nations (which we promise will run this time) * Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
And we're doing a dress-up comp to get into the theme a bit.
Giveaways will include many prizes including a motherboard thanks to DFI.
Registration is now open. We are using our own registration system to resolve some issues gamers have had with AusGamers and to provide better integration with our EMS so that we can improve your experience during the event.
